What is Altrazeal

A revolutionary healing technology.

Altrazeal is a methacrylate-based, transforming powder dressing engineered to cover and protect the wound and provide an ideal moist healing environment that supports cellular function and tissue repair.

Its non-resorbable, sterile granules aggregate on contact with saline to form a moist, flexible, oxygen-permeable film that fits and seals the wound. The result is a skin-like barrier that promotes healthy granulation tissue growth.

  • Seals and protects the entire wound surface
  • Allows oxygen transportation
  • Manages exudate through vapor transpiration
  • Prevents penetration of exogenous bacteria
Mechanism of Action

Powder on. Matrix formed. Wound protected.

Six stages, from dry granules to flake-off, driven by a patented methacrylate-based chemistry that transforms with a simple saline drip.

01

Apply

Pour granules to cover the entire wound bed, then drip saline to accelerate hydration.

02

Aggregate

On contact with moisture, the granules self-aggregate into a conformable matrix.

03

Breathe

The matrix forms an oxygen-permeable dressing that manages exudate through vapor transpiration.

04

Seal

The dressing fits and seals the wound as a flexible, skin-like barrier.

05

Protect

Bacteria are too large to penetrate, preventing microbial migration into the wound.

06

Flake off

As the wound heals, the dressing loses hydration at the margin and gradually flakes off.

Indications

A wide range of applications.

Altrazeal works best on clean wounds with mild to moderate exudation, across surgical, acute, and chronic indications.

Surgical

Post-operative wound care

  • Operative incisions & wounds
  • Dermatological excisions
  • Dehisced wounds
  • Skin graft donor & recipient sites
Acute

Trauma & burns

  • Trauma & lacerations
  • Skin tears
  • First and second degree burns
Chronic

Non-healing & ulcerated wounds

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Venous and other leg ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers

Synergistic with other modalities: NPWT transition dressing · Total contact cast · Compression bandage · Hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Clinical Advantages

Single product. Multiple features.

Conforms to any wound

Transforms into a flexible dressing that fits the exact geometry of the wound bed.

Fewer dressing changes

Extended wear time lets wounds heal undisturbed, reducing cost of care and nursing time.

Oxygen-permeable

Oxygen enters the wound environment, supporting cellular function and repair.

Manages exudate

Absorbs approximately 68% water of its hydrated mass and controls fluid through vapor transpiration.

Bacterial barrier

Prevents exogenous bacteria from entering the wound, while remaining breathable.

Non-adherent removal

Saturate with saline and lift off. No pain, no trauma, no skin stripping.

Proven Outcomes

Real patients. Real results.

A selection of published clinical outcomes, from surgical wounds to chronic ulcers that had resisted conventional treatment for years.

14days

Accelerated healing

Patients reached closure in 14 days with Altrazeal versus a standard 35 days, a significantly steeper healing trajectory reported across a range of wounds.

Multi-wound study
63days

Ulcers resolved after 8 years

93-year-old female with four venous ulcers unhealed for eight years under conventional dressings. All four fully healed in 63 days on Altrazeal with compression therapy.

Venous Ulcer · Compression

Single-application surgical closure

Caesarean-section wound sealed with a single Altrazeal application for eight days. Patient reported reduced pain and the wound remained free of infection throughout.

Avoided limb amputation

70-year-old female with a painful non-healing malleolus wound, worsening despite debridement and IV antibiotics. Wound closed on day 84 with Altrazeal. Amputation avoided.

Arterial Ulcer
Why it performs
  • Intimate wound contact with no peripheral adhesive required
  • Wound-margin visibility without removing the dressing
  • Comfortable over joints and high-friction areas
  • Patients may shower while wearing the dressing
  • Synergistic with NPWT, compression, and total contact casting
